Does that title make it sound important? Anyways, news...Since I got my laptop back, backed up all my data, and found my Windows XP install discs again I did something completely awesome. Ran windows install (not the awesome part), did updates (god dammit windows updates take forever AND this install disc is only a year old), then I grabbed my super mega awesome Ubuntu 7.10 Live CD. I ran it, repartitioned windows (80 GB hard drive [really like 76 GB, god damn you misleading storage capacity labels!]) to have about 42, Ubuntu to get 30, and the rest goes to swap and this odd partition made by windows that I suspect is for hibernating but I am too afraid to delete and skrew up to find out. So, i now have a Ubuntu/XP dual booting laptop! Note I said Ubuntu first, cause I use linux 95% of the time now

Issues? Well, at first my USB ports were not working for more than a few minutes after booting. Then I realized that since my laptop is kinda linuxphobic (damn you HP!) and I had to use a boot command "noapic nolapic" that the command was essentially rerigging my hardware to boot properly into linux. an hour of looking through teh ubuntu forums and I find out there is another noapic command "noapic noirqdebug" that makes EVERYTHING work right. Also...I miss my tablet! I am too stupid to figure out how to install my Graphire4 on linux...I'm getting wrist cramps from using a goddamn mouse again!
i know there's probably no reward, but I though I'd capture it anyways, congrats on your 200 views, and keep going there's real potential in your work. I like it
